Risk
Their bites cause itching, welts and sometimes allergic reactions, and they disrupt sleep. They travel easily in luggage and second-hand furniture.
Where they appear
Mattress seams, headboards, sofas, cracks near the bed; hotels and lodgings.
Bed bugs
Flat, oval, reddish-brown insects, 5–7 mm long, that feed on blood at night and hide during the day.
